▲ highlights: 1 year of letters here! // The Hmm @REBOOT event invitation // S.Å.T.E. runs until 2-12-2023 // Contours new podcast
hey,
this month’s letter is rather short, because i am having too many things on my plate right now. I couldn’t find any time to work on sonic pieces [even though i had it on my to-do list], nor to prepare a voice message this time. Hopefully, next month will be less crazy :-]
However, i wanted to acknowledge that it’s been 1 year since i moved my monthly letter here, hoooray! Happy substack-newsletter-anniversary! I’m thinking of how to make this grow and use it as a platform for my sonic works as well. Thus, i will start with a small experiment and see how it goes: now there is a “podcast” tab on my substack where i will publish my more elaborate sonic works. It’s accessible via a paid subscription, so i can somehow fund that work, but in case i do something that is financed by another source, it will also go there as free-access content [like this letter].
Ok, that’s it for now. I hope you’re well, will be happy to hear from you. Below i’ve added my current two invitations for 2 things i’m involved in. And a bonus one for a new project that was created by my friend Boyana Stoilova. Next month i aim at publishing some documentation and reflections of all the many things happening right now.
Hugs,

[The Hmm @ REBOOT at the Nieuwe Instituut, Rotterdam]
The project brings together eight artists, designers and researchers across generations, who are working with and reflecting on digital tools, online identities, and the deep impact of internet culture. During this special program in collaboration with Nieuwe Instituut, we’ll be highlighting three generations of makers. From the exhibition REBOOT, we invite the pioneers of digital art (1960-2000), and present-day makers who responded to their works. Finally, we present emerging young artists, designers, and makers from our Hmm FYI Emerging Digital Maker Program.
Very grateful to be one of the FYI Program artists who will talk shortly about their work. For this event, I am joining forces with Léa Cadieux - we will speak about collective practices with open source, archiving, protocols & literacy. In our very different practices, we found common ground in the “nature” of how we care about collective work, sharing, and experimenting with tools.
🗓 Date: Wednesday 15 November, 2023
📍 Location: Nieuwe Instituut, Museumpark 25, 3015 CB, Rotterdam
⏰ Doors open: 7:30PM CET
🕗 Program starts: 8PM CET
🎟 Tickets: on-site €8,- / on-site student discount €5,- / online livestream €5

[exhibition in Groningen - on until 2-12-2023] S.Å.T.E. - Sounds at the Exposure runs until 2nd of December - stop by if you have the chance. My week in Groningen was really nice, full of first-time experiences! Marie-Jeanne and Ron from SIGN are the best - they were super welcoming hosts and supportive in the whole process of building up my installation at their space! Hope to have the chance to work with them in the future, as well. <3
I’ve made the documentation page on AlWiki - it is still work in progress, but there is plenty of info there already.
The closing event is on 2nd of December at 16:00 h CET. I will be there, so if you’re around, we can have a chat.

[Contours podcast - first episode is out] Speaking of Boyana, her newest podcast just released the first episode of a series exploring the life and work of the most renowned Bulgarian artists of the 20th Century. What i especially appreciate about the team’s approach is that they are looking at the artists through the context of today and do not dive into the traditional art-historical reporting of the artists’ oeuvre. It is an accessible piece [which is not easy to find in Bulgarian art history field] about how Bulgarian-born painters went through the turbulent times of the past century and dealt with everyday life and their work. Give it an ear here! <3
// p.s. the episode will be also available in English!
