⫷ <Room for Sound was back for 1-week class/> and was the reason i made a trip back to Rotterdam for 2 weeks. The workshop invited 27 Willem de Kooning Academy bachelor students to experiment with sound in their research, art and design practice. Sound is an underrated medium in visual arts academies and this is why Naomi and i bring this class whenever possible at the academy.

🖤 <shoutout to some inspiring hommies/> This month I want to introduce you (in case you don’t know them) more artists and makers with who I’ve been working in the Netherlands. So lucky to know them, really! Here are three of my “sound-buddies” <3
★ Naomi Jansen // I was lucky to meet Naomi when she picked me for the new coordinator of Willem de Kooning’s in-house art residency Room for Sound in 2022. We had a great collaboration since - we continued to work on the project together and facilitated a 2-week workshop at the academy in January 2023. She is an inspiration for me - her professionalism, warm personality, and experimental approach to creating art-educational experiences.

★ mitsitron // While I was collecting inspiring examples of sonic works to present to the Room for Sound students, I was once again admiring my dear friend Mitsi’s inspiring work for their graduation: “Thanks for Listening”. Their are one of the people who brought sound back to my practice and made me realise how much it has been present in my work all the way. Currently, Mitsi is working on the extratonal project in Rotterdam and they are organising an event very soon:

★ kamo // Another partner in sound, a super-duper ultra talented soul who can work with anything and make the most unexpected and inspiring outcome! Thanks for the many jams we did during the last 2 years, I reconnected to sound thanks also to Kamo. Just a day ago, he released this lovely piece that was recorded at his terrace in the precious Dutch sun! Have a listen & enjoy!
